Romi is probably one of my favorite characters I've ever written. She is fiercely loyal, delightful, unconventional and no pushover. Writing her and Max's story was by turns fun, emotionally draining and ultimately triumphant. If any two characters deserve their happy ending, it is these two. Max is a self-made tycoon with a lot of emotional baggage while Romi is an heiress who doesn't have a spoiled bone in her body. The combined pain of their past mixed with the challenges of their present made for a story that would not let me stop writing some days even when I was exhausted. Trivia: Romi is the nickname my oldest sister gave our baby sister when we were children. No one has called her that in decades, but I've always loved the name and was excited when it fit this heroine so well.
The original nickname for my hero was Van, until I realized I'd subconsciously named him after my mother-in-law!!! Lucky for me, the publisher wanted a different name too!
I wrote this entire book at The Gathering Place, a beach house retreat owned by two of my sisters in Ocean Shores, WA, one of my favorite places for peaceful relaxation on the planet.
